Batmobile 267One of the most iconic vehicles from the 1960's, the Batmobile from Corgi was a huge favourite amongst 1960's and 1970's boys. The Batmobile was based on a concept car produced by Lincoln in 1955 called the Futura. The Futura featured in a Hollywood movie called 'It started with a kiss' in 1959 before it was converted into the unforgettable and highly distinctive Batmobile in 1966.
![]() ![]() This particular model was sold on ebay by George's Good Stuff in March 2006 for £779 in the following condition: This stunning model comes in its equally superb original box - the inner card picture tray is virtually perfect, very crisp and clean, while the outer is showing only the lightest age wear, also very crisp, very clean, all complete, with an original 1960s shop label on one end flap showing a price of $4.00 (I wish!) - you'd think this had just come straight off the toy shop shelf in 1966! Best of all, the original secret instructions envelope has never been opened, and contains all the original rockets still on the sprue (I can feel them through the paper!) plus the fold-out Batman instructions leaflet, plus the additional information sheet, plus the unapplied original Batman lapel badge on its backing paper. Overall an absolutely fantastic complete original Corgi collectable, perhaps Corgi's best ever model and very much in demand. I'm reluctantly selling this to fund another business stream - make the most of it, opportunities to acquire perfect examples of this wonderful first issue 1966 model are getting harder and harder to find!
