Scalextric cars

Scalextric started producing slot cars back in the 1950's. The first slot cars they produced were tinplate which are very rare these days and hard to come by other than via specialised toy auctions.
The 1960's saw the introduction of plastic bodied cars which were faster and easier to produce which took Scalextric to new levels.
New models were launched based on the iconic racing cars of the time and every kid (and adult) wanted them.
The car mechanics have gone through many different designs over the years with the introduction of magnatraction to improve handling, working headlights and brake lights and the crossover to digital control in 2005. Still going strong today, Scalextric make more slot car models than ever before.
