Thunderbirds 2 and 4 by Dinky Toys

Thunderbirds 2 and 4 ref101 by Dinky Toys from 1967.
Finished in green with yellow plastic fold-down legs and drop-down central container with the yellow Thunderbirds 4 model inside.
The 1967 release of the model was finished in the lighter green colour with the thin plastic support legs - later versions were darker green with thicker legs and came in the bubble packing. Even later still the Thunderbird 2 changed colour to metallic blue for some strange reason. Anyone know why?

The central cargo bay pod slides down neatly to open and reveal the tiny yellow T4 inside. The plastic legs fold up into the undercarriage after takeoff.

This particular model was sold on ebay by George's Good Stuff in July 2006 for £422 in the following condition:
This beautiful and very hard to find set is in absolutely mint perfect condition - I can't find a mark on the model anywhere, it's an absolute beauty, with all transfers, pod thrusters etc intact and absolutely no corrosion of any kind on the rollers underneath. I have only had a few of these in several years trading and this is definitely the best I have seen anywhere.

All four legs are intact, although a couple are fiddly to click back into a horizontal poistion on the underside of the body, always a slight problem with this model - it's why Dinky quickly revamped it and released it with thicker legs, which is why these first versions are so rare - but this hardly detracts from what is an absolutely immaculate model.

The model comes in its equally superb original inner and outer box, showing only the tiniest wear on the outer box to a couple of end flap edges, including a barely noticeable small along-the-edge corner tear, while the inner has some light wear from the weight of the model, but overall this fantastic original box is very clean, crisp and bright and 100 per cent complete, the best I've seen anywhere for this model, and there’s also both pieces of original inner card packing inside, the large piece to sit over the model and a rectangular side piece to keep the box square - very rarely found these days in this set!

All in all, if your'e looking for an immaculate original example of this very desirable and extremely hard to find 1960s sci-fi classic collectable, this is it - definitely an investment piece for the serious collector!
