Scalextric Aston Martin DB4 C68 in Blue
Scalextric Aston Martin DB4 C68 in Blue made in France
Back in the early 60s when Tri-Ang took over Minimodels they opened a new Scalextric factory in Calais, France to gain access to the European market.
Before 1968 the French factory relied heavily on British moulds and produced cars identical to their UK counterparts. However colours were not strictly controlled, or even catalogued, so they often used whatever coloured plastics they had to hand. Hence these early French models can turn up in unusual colours that are extremely difficult to find.
The British made version of this Aston Martin DB4 GT was available with lights and was finished in British racing green with an ivory interior, a yellow driver with red helmet and the racing number 7.
